Sheffield 10km – 24th Feb

This was received:

…we are organising a 10K in Sheffield at Graves Park on 24th Feb and we’d love Askern to be involved.

The race (www.ageuk.org.uk/10K) is chip timed, t-shirt awarded, and I would describe the course as ‘Sheffield flat’, which means one or two hills 😉

The race will raise money for Age UK and older people in Sheffield, specifically a campaign to combat cold and isolation this winter, something that’s really close to my heart.

Would I be able to offer you two free places (usually £16, or £14 UKA) in return for passing info about the event on to your club? Would you be interested in getting more involved and supplying marshals?

No worries at all if not, any help is greatly appreciated even if it’s just adding it to your race calendar, it’s a great cause and with lots of experience under our belts now it should be a great race

Now there’s an offer of two free places, I suppose:

  • we could run a first come first saved basis for this (slightly unfair on the luddites not on t’web or Facebook)
  • do a ballot (!)
  • make it a club run to truly support the event and the savings absorbed there.

If there’s genuine interest (forget the free place thing) I’ll suggest it as a club run…. Let me know peeps.

P.
