About

Askern Nr Doncaster, South Yorkshire

ADRC was formed in 1982

We are primarily a road running club but we also compete in cross country and fell racing events.

The club is for runners of all abilities male or female from novice joggers to international marathon runners.

Members meet each Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings at 7pm throughout the year at the Norton Parish Council Pavilion on Ryecroft Road, Norton.  Training runs are arranged on the night to cater for all abilities and distances.  Changing facilities and showers are available.

As we do not have access to track facilities we cannot unfortunately cater for young children as most of our training is on public roads and parks.

The club puts on 3 races each year the Norton 9, Askern 10k and Askern 10 Mile attracting hundreds of runners from around the country.

As a club we take part in the South Yorkshire Road and the South Yorkshire Cross Country Leagues each year.

The club also organise a trip abroad to a race which is enjoyed by both runners and non-runners members.

  1. Good afternoon, I am wanting to start running, not done any for several years since competing in the Norton 9 mile.. My fitness has decline due to working long hours and studying. I would like to know how you accommodate different fitness levels.

    • Lesley, we cater for all runners – do not worry about that. Why don’t you try a couple of club nights? We meet at 1900h at the Norton Pavilion on Rye Croft Road. Just announce you’re new and someone will guide you to a suitable group. Hope to see you soon.

  2. Hi there, I’m wanting to start running regularly again but don’t have the determination to do it alone. Currently jog a slow 14 minute mile.
Am I too slow to join the group? And how far do you go on a training night?
    Thankyou

    • Hi Lynee, no-one is too slow to run with others. Why don’t you come down and try out, we meet Tuesday and Thursdays at 1900 at the community centre on Ryecroft Road. Introduce yourself and there’s very likely someone who is running roughly what you want. We split into various groups depending on ability or needs on the night.

Regular running with others will bring you on no end.

      Regards, Phil.

  3. Hi there. I’m out of shape and the wrong side of forty. if I just turn up on Tuesday and look lost will there be a slower group I can run with?

    • Sorry Cheryl, I’ve only just seen this. For sure you can turn up to a club night and its extremely likely they’ll be somebody you can run with. Equally from 1800 to 1900 on Tuesday we also run a beginners group which you can find details of here: https://www.facebook.com/new2run/
