Are here: 2017 Askern 10mile Results
Big congratulations to all the category winners but particularly first male, Iraitz Arrospide and first lady, Faye Banks, who both won their gender by 4 clear minutes in incredible times.
Thanks as always to St Johns, Askern Miners Welfare, supporters, runners and the officials and marshals who without these races couldn’t go ahead.
We hope you all enjoyed the race.
Update: entries close this weekend, remember there are no entries on the day (as we’ve moved to chip timing).
Please find our online entries at BookItZone here: 2017 Askern 10 Mile Entries
Postal entries are available here: 2017 Askern 10Mile Entry Form but we’d encourage people to use the online system as you get immediate confirmation.
Are here: 2017 Askern 10km Results
As usual, but no less diminished because it is year after year, a huge thanks to local running clubs, supporters, marshals, race organisers, the Welfare and the wider Askern area who make this race a success. The weather wasn’t so kind this year but we hope it didn’t dampen things.
Many of you know this /may/ be the last time this race is on in it’s current guise due to a couple of organisational challenges. Nothing is final though so we’ll let you know in due course.
Its pretty likely the Askern 10mile will go ahead too so we’ll starting making preparations for that ASAP.
Please find links to:
Collect number and returnable chip on the day; HQ open from 5.00pm – race start at 7.00pm. Leave plenty of time…
Parking at Askern Miners Welfare Club (sat nav: DN6 0AJ),
Have a good run!
The race is being held on Wednesday 17th May @ 19:00
UPDATE: Race Full. Sorry if you have missed out. We do operate a waiting list for on-line entries via BookItZone. You can sign up and then be emailed if a place becomes available.
We know we have been pretty quiet about the Askern 10km this year. We have faced a number of challenges with the latest curve ball being we may have lost our parking at Race HQ due to building works. We now know this is unlikely to start prior to the race so we have decided to put this race on for one last time in its current guise.
We have also previously reduced the entry limit last year in response to it being overwhelmingly popular in the recent years. We are further limiting the entries again this year to 600 with no on the day but we expect to sell out prior to that.
So please enter early on the following link: https://bookitzone.com/phil_tordoff_1/tb2FFX
Postal entry form here, but please bear in mind how quickly the event is filling up (75% in 3 days) that online is the quickest way to confirm your entry: 2017 Askern 10km Entry Form (v1)
Thanks for your patience and good luck,
All, quick post (as not near laptop) but here are the results from today’s race: http://www.ukresults.net/2017/norton9.html
As always, hope the runners enjoyed it and thanks to all the marshals and ADRC members who put the hours in behind the scenes to ensure the continuing success of this race.
Obviously the car park issues were less than ideal as the weather over the last couple of days had beat us but we got everyone out in the end.
Will post fuller over the next couple of days.
Please find links to:
Collect number and returnable chip on the day; HQ open from 08.30 am – race start at 10.00am. Leave plenty of time…
Parking opposite Norton Middle School courtesy of Norton Strawberry Growers (sat nav: DN6 9DG), weather permitting. Do not park on West End Road as this forms part of the course.
Have a good run!
First Sunday of March is looming, 5th this year; as always marshals are required and all help is appreciated. It is these events that allow our club to operate at almost zero cost (for the second year running) to its members.
It is an earlier meet of 0830 at the school as the race starts at 1000. Fez is coordinating marshals and will be trying to allocate points to people with instructions ahead of the day but please turn up promptly to the school. We’re undergoing a few changes to the race this year so more people around the better.
Thanks in advance.
Race full! (There’s actually two entries left but they’ll be gone a in a few minutes). Sorry if you’ve missed out but BookItZone do operate a waiting list so it may be worth a try. In the next couple of days everyone will receive an email for race day instructions and a copy of the number allocations. Remember start time is 1000 this year and HQ open from 0830.
UPDATE: Forgot to mention there will be NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY and race limit is set at 600. For the past 8 years we’ve had about 510 finishers so the limit of 600 should not be an issue.
A little later than normal but please find on-line entries available in this link: BookItZone
As always, race is first Sunday in March which is the 5th this year – however we have pulled forward the start time by one hour to 10:00 and we have reluctantly but after careful consideration dropped the fun run.
For those who prefer postal entries here is the download: 2017 Norton 9 Entry Form
Chip timing is new for this race (the same system we used for the Askern 10mile) but it will still be number and chip collection on the day. We will publish the number allocation ahead and have info boards available on the day to speed up collection by number blocks.
Look forward to seeing you.
They’ve actually been up a couple of hours and available here: http://www.ukresults.net/2016/askern10.html
Thanks to John Schofield and family for providing chip timing. This was our first foray into this and some lessons to be learnt but this was why we trialled it in our longest and least busy race.
Apologies re the missing clubs on some of the online entries. Hopefully we were able to make the corrections taken at chip pick up. Ultimately it only affects the team prize but obviously there’s an expectation that participants details are correct.
And finally thanks to all the marshals who give their time unconditionally to allow this long standing race to continue without whom it simply wouldn’t exist.
