Another successful running of the Norton 9 saw over 500 runners complete the course in ideal conditions. Congratulations to Pumlani Bengani of Salford Harriers who was the overall winner in a time of 48:50 and Julie Briscoe of Wakefield Harriers in a time of 52:24 and 11th overall.
Results for the full race are here: 2013 Norton 9 Mile Results
Results for the fun run are here: 2013 Norton Fun Run Preliminary Results
The highest placed Askern runner was 17th, Paul Collingwood in a time of 52:29 – races like this can only be put on by the voluntary help of club runners so many Askern runners aren’t able to compete on the day. Occasionally we let other runners win…
Many thanks to all entrants and hope to see you next year.
Received a few calls today asking for the postcode for the start of the race, just in case anybody is checking this website in the morning use DN6 9DG to get to the car parking/race HQ.
Further update again! So, still meet as below but soup is confirmed at School Boy, around 1230 I think. Just go with the flow I think…
Further update: meet at the club’s changing rooms 1030 for an 1100 start.
Update already: There’s now uncertainty over the School Boy! Check back when we’ve found somewhere, possibly even our changing rooms in the meeting side. (Don’t worry, there’ll be alcohol somewhere).
The date for the Xmas Handicap is confirmed as Saturday 29th December.
We’ve changed the meeting location to the
School Boy pub (some uncertainty over the Royal Hotel at the moment). As always, we need people to turn up early so assign a start slot. I believe the first runner goes off at 1100 so please be there between 1015 and 1030.
Its unlikely I’ll be up at the club by then so if you could share it around….
17th February 2013, closing date 9th February.
Entry forms will be at club next time my glass back allows (probably after the closing date then…) No obvious on-line entry.
For those of you that were able to run (so not me then) the results are up: http://2pointb.co.uk/Running/TrailRaces/edwinstowe/Results2012.pdf
Hopefully you enjoyed the race and meal.
Couple of thoughts for next year – we’re not fixed on Edwinstowe (although its good in many ways) and if we’re slightly flexible on being late November rather than early December we’ll have more options. Here’s a couple:
As always, ideas welcome, don’t just rely on the usual few to think of everything…
Entries by post and online for the 2013 Norton 9 are open:
Date is (as always) the first Sunday in March, this year it falls on 3rd March. Prices haven’t increased so as always its extremely good value. We have increased the entry on the day fee (£1 to £2) so please pre-enter to save money and be eligible for prizes.
At Norton Club. This is to solely discuss next year’s races given the size of the changes.
