I'm not sure why i entered this one after Sundays battering at Denby Dale, however i knew that nothing will hurt as much as that one did!! Andy Goodair and myself train regularly around the Ward Green area and it's a fairly hilly course also but a fast one so at least i knew what was coming. It's 2 laps around the local area with one really big drop downhill and a long pull up for about 1/2 mile. Twice!! Due to the great weather today quite a few runners entered on the day to swell the numbers. I set off ok but there was quite a gap opened up straight away of about 10-12. I knew after the first lap i'd regret doing it, at halfway your time was shouted out '16.40' was what i heard and then just tried to keep it ticking over for the 2nd lap. The 2nd climb was reminiscant to Denby Dale, not as severe on the slope but dragged on and on. Plenty of support on the sides for everyone which was needed as you turned for home. Like i said it was a fast course, the winner broke 30 mins. I came home in 11th in a time of 33.47. I was glad to finish it as i didn't have much left in the legs at all. 0 comments, (733 reads) All Articles by, chrisshaw
