I was one of the early entrants who managed to get a place in the Travellers 6, unfortunately!!!! Only joking. Quite a friendly event and a new route for this year (avoiding a long stretch on the crazy main road through to the finish). Not the best of days, but the rain held off. The race started and went up and up and up and some more up levelled a bit, up some more. Then a downhill stretch that was a bit of a relief. The fourth to fifth mile is where the changes to the previous years course has been made. In years gone by apparently the marshalls directed runners right at four miles, not this year you went left! back up the hill, i've not felt pain like it, i could hardly even lift my legs up to move forward.I went from 4th to 7th in that mile, when i hit 5 mile after getting my head together, getting my legs back moving and stopped feeling sorry for myself it was all downhill freefall, i hauled back one spot but couldn't catch 5th place back up. The 6 mile marker however, was about 300 m from the finish at the pie hall. My time was 37.20 for 6th spot. It was the hardest race i have done to date, i swore at the time to my wife who kindly came along, i wouldn't be doing that one again!! Dean Winter came in 13th and he was cursing the course change as he had done the race last year. It was a very tough challenging course, which has left it's mark on my quads!!!!! 0 comments, (802 reads) All Articles by, chrisshaw
