Update 1. Post Xmas Xmas do is now Saturday 19th January. The provisional date was already booked.
Update 2. Christmas Handicap is now Saturday 29th
Morning all, with Christmas coming up and prep for next year’s races beginning here are some key dates for the next 12 months.
- Saturday 29th December: Christmas Handicap
- Saturday 19th January: Post-Xmas Xmas Do
- Sunday 3rd March: Norton 9
- Wednesday 15th May: Askern 10km
- Sunday 11th August: Askern 10mile
- Pre-Xmas Xmas Race-do: TBC
Was meant to be this Tuesday 3rd, but has been decided to be pushed back to make sure maximum attendance when it’s run. I mean, could you imagine Dave’s stress levels with a race in his name whilst England were playing in a World Cup knock out? Even Jane’s commented he wouldn’t have been there…
Take care all.
Invitation to all ADRC members.
This year we are changing the date and format from the Norton 9 relay of last year to make it more inclusive and viable, we felt last year that runners waiting or finished were isolated until we regrouped in the pub….
The date this year is three weeks today, Tuesday 3rd July (it was always intended to move it towards lighter nights in summer) and we are thinking a team of 3 x 2.2mile legs through Campsall Park.
I’ll put more info on when available but this year the theme will be to wear something green, the closer to the Freddo green you can achieve the better… This is intended be a fun night of running, as Dave always loved it when the club had a bit of a get together.
Hope to see you there, whether it is as a runner, spectator or a helper.
Miss you Dave.
Stan W has put forward a night out, where the general consensus is an Indian @ Aagrah, Adwick.
Could you let him know by Tuesday if you’d like to do, there’s quite some interest already so I think its happening and he’s just trying to finalise numbers.
A break with the norm, the date has been set for Saturday 20th January, the venue Norton Coronation Club.
Tickets are the same at £5 / £7 / £2 for Members, Non-Members, Children.
Not sure who’s taking the names, I’ll suss that out shortly.
Here’s the following pickup times for Percy Pud this Sunday, race starts at 0930 so be ready to run when bus dumps us on the start line.
- 7.30 Norton – Royal Hotel (not Colby Castle)
- 7.35 Campsall – Campsall Club
- 7.37 Campsall – Bone Lane (bottom)
- 7.41 Burghwallis – (personal pickup of 1)
- 7.45 Skellow – Grange Club
- 7.47 Carcroft – Library
- 7.54 Scawthorpe – Don Valley School
The times look military precision, in truth its best estimate, margins are tight though so be there in good time. Early night Saturday!
Yup, I’m bringing up Christmas already.
I may seriously regret this but we’re mixing it up the year and doing a different race, the Percy Pud (www.steelcitystriders.co.uk/percy-pud-10k/). The complexity comes that is is a /very/ popular race and sells out in a couple of hours.
I’ve contacted the organisers and they’ve said for everyone to enter normally and if anyone misses out they’ll see what they can do.
So this requires a little effort from those who want to run to either enter when it opens up (5pm on Sunday 1st October 2017). I will be posting many reminders and the link before time. If you think you’re unable to book yourself buddy up with someone who can (and that doesn’t mean I’ll have 30 buddies! I’m actually travelling at that time).
Obviously, we’ll find a nice place to eat too and likely organise a coach. Of course, if someone wants to step up and take on one or both of these roles feel free!
The Sunday is the usual for our pre-Xmas Xmas Do, first Sunday of December.
And remember, an ADRC vest is for life, not just for Christmas.
