Dave’s Relay – postponed

Was meant to be this Tuesday 3rd, but has been decided to be pushed back to make sure maximum attendance when it’s run. I mean, could you imagine Dave’s stress levels with a race in his name whilst England were playing in a World Cup knock out? Even Jane’s commented he wouldn’t have been there…

Take care all.

Pre-Christmas Christmas Do.

Yup, I’m bringing up Christmas already.

I may seriously regret this but we’re mixing it up the year and doing a different race, the Percy Pud (www.steelcitystriders.co.uk/percy-pud-10k/). The complexity comes that is is a /very/ popular race and sells out in a couple of hours.

I’ve contacted the organisers and they’ve said for everyone to enter normally and if anyone misses out they’ll see what they can do.

So this requires a little effort from those who want to run to either enter when it opens up (5pm on Sunday 1st October 2017). I will be posting many reminders and the link before time. If you think you’re unable to book yourself buddy up with someone who can (and that doesn’t mean I’ll have 30 buddies! I’m actually travelling at that time).

Obviously, we’ll find a nice place to eat too and likely organise a coach. Of course, if someone wants to step up and take on one or both of these roles feel free!

The Sunday is the usual for our pre-Xmas Xmas Do, first Sunday of December.

And remember, an ADRC vest is for life, not just for Christmas.

South Yorkshire Road Leagues – They’re back…

As many of you know the Road Leagues were under serious threat of disappearing due to a hole in the leadership after Keith’s departure. Now there is a concerted effort by Steel City Striders (or at least individuals from) to take this on.

They have limited the entries to 500 runners across the 4 races and have allocated (after initial survey requesting numbers) places to each club – we have 13.

We will operate it on a first come first served basis and that you must be “positive” that they you be doing at least one of the races. This is only fair to the organisers as if we don’t fill our quota we need to hand places back but equally if we don’t get our runners to the start line that’s not in the spirit either.

You need to pay for the number up front, with a refund to be given when you complete one of the fixtures.

We cannot deprive anyone else of a number if its only a “maybe”; whether from our club or others.

The absolute deadline for our submission is 7pm Monday 6th March 2017.

Given the short notice you’ll have to let me know if you are a runner but bear in mind my priorities are gearing up for the N9 this weekend.
