Norton 9 Results

Another successful running of the Norton 9 saw over 500 runners complete the course in ideal conditions. Congratulations to Pumlani Bengani of Salford Harriers who was the overall winner in a time of 48:50 and Julie Briscoe of Wakefield Harriers in a time of 52:24 and 11th overall.

Results for the full race are here: 2013 Norton 9 Mile Results

Results for the fun run are here: 2013 Norton Fun Run Preliminary Results

The highest placed Askern runner was 17th, Paul Collingwood in a time of 52:29 –  races like this can only be put on by the voluntary help of club runners so many Askern runners aren’t able to compete on the day. Occasionally we let other runners win…

Many thanks to all entrants and hope to see you next year.

    • Nicola, the prize winners will be online shortly. As we give the highest value prize to an individual they are eligible for it is not as simple as looking by single category; e.g. An F40 prize may be given to an F45/F50 if the prize value is greater than their placing in the higher category – the upside is the prize reflects the race position generally.

  1. Great race, excellent organisation, beautiful course, school was a brilliant race HQ. Well done for arranging the perfect weather conditions, thankyou to the enthusiastic marshals. More S&M next year please (T shirt sizes)

  2. 15 of us from Sweatshop Castleford ran today. Can I pass on my thanks on behalf of us all for a fantastic run. Your Marshalls were brilliant. We will return next year in bigger numbers, provided you don’t mind us cheering each other home at the finish. We can be a tad noisy!

  3. Thanks to all involved – all so helpful and friendly, great organisation and my son loved taking part in the fun run too 🙂

  4. How nice not to be freezing cold/ soaking wet & cold/ weather conditions were brilliant which made the race quite pleasureable!!! Thanks to everyone who organises the Norton 9/ marshalls /car parking people etc.

  5. Big thanks to all the marshalls they were brilliant, as a tail end Charlie it means a lot to get so much encouragement and some of them had to spend a long time out on the course when I bet they would rather have been running. Thank you all so much.

  6. I did the 5k Fun Run mainly as a training run, great to see so many youngsters running and doing so well.

I’ll defo be back next year to do the Norton 9.

  7. Great run – thanks to all involved. Are there any official photos from the event? I’d like one for my memory wall! Thanks.

  8. Thanks for a great race again; considerably dryer than last year! We always have the Norton 9 in our Club Championship and 18 Kingstone Runners completed it this year (although one entered as unattached). Unfortunately one was missing from the results, Jane Brankin, who finished towards the end of the field (somewhere around 90 minutes).
