Wakefield Hospice ran a 10k Saturday night called The Twilight 10k. Our very own Steve Gallagher popped out to get some bread and beer in time for Strictly Come Dancing and accidentally joined in with a finish of 48:33!

If you want hero status and to be treated like a running god, come to XC! Norfolk Park in Sheffield was a particularly bumpy undulating course and as slippery as it was several years ago for our last showing there. With the relentless rain for days, a bit of wind, dark skies and muddy under foot, the conditions were set for a classic XC meet. It did briefly stop raining for the racing, but we remained soaked in sweat and tears! Karen Ball finished first in the F35 category. M-C was still smashing up the last hill on her third lap towards the finish with ADRC warrior determination. Graham Werrett currently hold third in the MV65 category. Oddly, Michael Pearson the 3 miles to and from the race; just in case it wasn’t hard enough! The rest of us soaked up the atmosphere and literally the ground moisture to finish milliseconds from self-destruction. That just about sums up XC…

Next XC meeting is Campsall Park on Sunday 27th October. A home match to attract a big group of ADRC runners. There will be a flag. There will be a tent! Bring whatever gear you fancy and supporters to make a crowd. ADRC will have a presence from 10.30am. Bring beer!
