First up, an apology for the delay in getting a report written for the 1st virtual Remembrance Day Race and the 40th annual outing for this event.
I don’t know about the rest of you but currently I struggle with the day to day motivations and getting down to writing this up has been perfect for procrastination.
If I remember rightly it was a foggy weekend and Sunday was thankfully not as bad as the Saturday. By the time 11.00 came round there had already been a number of completions. I set off to ride the course clockwise, against the current so to speak, so that I could see all the runners on the course at that time. It was good to see some of you and made up for the fact I couldn’t run.
So well done and thank you for the 17 of you who were able to run last Sunday. First male with the fastest time of the day was Lee Hatfield. First female was Susie Hinchcliffe, defending her trophy from the previous year.
It’s not how I would have wanted these races to take place, meeting up before and afterwards to share stories of past years is a large part of why I enjoy them. But that being said we all need to be sensible and play the long game. It’s highly likely that Boxing Day will take the same form as the June and November races and we’ll adapt as things change. Take care everyone.
Dan x
