It was a very different boxing day race today. As with all our races this year it was done with the aim of keeping all runners and the local community safe. There was no specific start time so that we were all spread out and didn’t gather in groups before or after. The only stipulations were that the standard course is run, and it had to be done on Boxing Day.
The first runners appear to have been Chris Pratchett and Alice Smith who set off before 08.30 this morning and last to set off was Duncan Marlow after dark at 19.50.
Mud was mentioned in quite a few Strava descriptions, but conditions were fairly helpful and will never be the same as back in the sepia beige memories of early 1980s Schoolboy Lane.
So, to the facts and figures. We had 45 intrepid runners complete the course with quite a few first timers, hopefully they make it a tradition and come back when we can make it a communal event again next year (fingers crossed).
Quickest time was Lee Hatfield who has retained his trophy and captured the 2020 triple crown.
First Lady was Alice Smith who was also one of our first timers.
First under-16 was William Collingwood who maintains the family habit of getting the Collingwood name on one of the trophies.
I have already received messages informing me that £150 has been donated to charities including Sheffield Hospitals charity for research into Multiple Myeloma. If you also make a donation please let me know so I can record the final amount for posterity.
