The last few weeks our members have taken part in a wide variety of events. We’ve had Steve and Andy take on a 10 hour Dalby inferno challenge. A 5k trail loop on the hour for 10 hours.
Talking to Andy before and after the event he was clearly motivate by Jasmin Paris amazing Berkley marathon achievements. My recurrent question of WHY??? has led to a more in depth chat which will be posted shortly. At the event both runners pushed themselves with Andy completing the full 50k and Steve 40k. Both off the back of marathons earlier in the year.
Four teams headed to Damflask relays in torrential rain. On the drive over I was hoping to be told the event was off but the skies cleared just in time for legs 1-3. Sadly anyone on the last leg got absolutely soaked. Unable to see running down the hill to the finish was pretty treacherous. Some brilliant running from all showing off all the hard work we’ve been doing on the Tuesday speed sessions.
We took a marshalling team to Frickley parkrun this time in sunny weather. I was great to assist the volunteer team in putting on the event and cheer on the participants. It highlights the amazing efforts the parkrun teams go to each week to host the events. We are very grateful.
Our second Monthly TT on the newest route almost went without a hitch with only one runner taking a longer route. No loose spaniels or fly tippers this month. Results to follow.
The racing calendar is filling up and training groups helping each other along the way. We have freddo relays next week which will be Olympic themed, be creative!
