Pontefract 10k race

Before and after

The weather was almost perfect for a race this morning – overcast, not too windy & around 15 degrees. We had to park at the supermarket and walk to the park for the start, but it was well organised and there were no queues. The start line had plenty of portaloos available, there was also a couple of hospitality options (coffee & ice cream vans) as well as a baggage storage facility.

The start was supported by Rhubarb Radio and it was right on time. A short run out of the park and a right turn straight onto an uphill for the first 1k. The run out of Pontefract was well supported with people cheering and clapping and it wasn’t long before we reached North Featherstone. The route was undulating but scenic with a lovely last downhill kilometre.Definitely not a PB course, but a good run nonetheless.

The finish was well attended, and it was lovely to get a medal, t-shirt, water and a bag of sweets! Well worth the entry fee (especially with the early bird offer of £10). The only criticism would be that it took a long time between finishing the race to get the goodies.

I would thoroughly recommend this race and will return to do it again!
