2018’s Time Trial report began……. “So the good weather certainly brings out the majority of ADRC. This must be one of the biggest fields we’ve ever had, well done everyone, it makes for a far better event when we have a good turnout”. On the night we had 25 athletes taking part, how times have changed as well as the weather. I for one am really looking forward to the numbers increasing again soon, as well as some warmer summer evenings. The weather certainly took a turn for the worse in the 2nd half of the race, with the athletes being battered with a freaky Hail storm (the times were clearly un-affected).
Without checking the archives I can’t say for sure, but I suspect 26m26s, could well be the fastest time we have recorded on the Summer Route, which is a fantastic effort to say it was a solo effort from the off.
I believe the same can also be said for each runner, which is never easy, so very well done.
Stan sent me a message afterwards with notice of a huge chunk being taken off his time from April. Brilliant, well done. He also said the conditions reminded him of the Askern 10k race about 20 years ago (I’m sure I marshalled that one).
Big thanks to the Time Keeper, who forgot his watch and stayed in his car out of the rain and hail. A wise move. He did remember to open the gate though. Bless him.
